The National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a nation wide assessment that is administered every year to Year 3, 5, 7 and 9 students. Every student undergoes testing in Language Conventions, Reading, Writing and Numeracy over a 3 day period usually in mid May.
The format can be one that is unfamiliar to younger students and although we do not spend copious amounts of time wading through 'past tests', we do try and expose students to the format of a NAPLAN style assessment. It can also be helpful at home to work on some past NAPLAN papers together which enables students them to become more familiar with the format and expectations of NAPLAN. Knowing that this can assist some students and lower anxiety, we have attached a link to the ACARA site.
